| You'll Need: 1 skein Red Heart Chunky yarn,"J" hook Gauge:5 hdc=2" 5 dc=2" Note:I have made quite a few of these scarfhats and the scarves always turn out at different lengths.The row count is an average from 5 different scarfhats.To save on ripping out scarves,make both scarves at the same time,one from the center yarn strand and the other from the outer yarn strand.Work about 5 rows at a time on each. To Make: Hat-Worked in continuous rounds. Rnd 1:Ch 2,loosely.Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook(8sc). Rnd 2:Work 2 hdc in each st around(16hdc). Rnd 3:1 hdc in next st,2 hdc in next st around(24hdc). Rnd 4:2 hdc in next st,1 hdc in next 2 sts around(32hdc). Rnd 5:1 hdc in next 3 sts,2 hdc in next st around(40hdc). Rnd 6:2 hdc in next st,1 hdc in next 7 sts around(45hdc). Rnd 7-15:1 hdc in each st around(45hdc). Rnd 16-20:1 sc in each st around.At the end of Rnd 20,sl st in next st.Fasten off,weave in ends.fold up last 5 rounds for cuff. Scarf(make 2)- Row 1:Leaving 15" tail,ch 13,dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across(11dc). Row 2:Ch 3,turn.Dc in each st acvross(11dc). Row 3-32:Rep Row 2.Fasten off,weave in short end. Finishing- Place marker 5 sts from right side of joining st on Rnd 15 of hat.With 15" tail,matching sts,sew scarf to side of hat.Do the same for left side. |
