| This feminine,1920's-style hat covers the top of the ears,or can be worn above the ears and flattened on top. The detachable rose pin makes the hat adjustable by folding the band over and repinning. Example in Redheart Dark Sage with Holly&Ivy insert and Claret rose pin. |
| You'll Need: For hat-Worsted yarn:approx.80 yds solid,20 yds varigated,"I" hook For rose pin-Worsted yarn:approx. 10 yds,"G" hook,1" safety pin Gauge:Rnds 1-2=3"(use whatever size hook will give you the proper guage). To Make: Hat: With Solid Color- Rnd 1:Ch 5;join with sl st to 1st ch to form ring.Ch 3(cts as dc),2 dc in ring,ch 1,(3 dc in ring,ch 1)4 times,join with sl st to 1st dc(5 3-dc groups). Rnd 2:(Sl st,ch 3,2dc)all in next dc,*ch 1,3 dc in next sp**,ch 1,sk next dc,3 dc in next dc;rep from * around,end at **;sc in top of 1st dc to join and form last ch-1 sp(10 3dc groups). Rnd 3:Ch 3,2 dc over sc;(ch 1,3 dc)twice all in next sp(Inc made);*ch 1,3 dc in next sp,Inc in next sp;rep from * around;sc in top of 1st dc to join(15 3-dc groups). Rnd 4:Ch 3,2 dc over sc;*ch 1,3 dc in next sp;rep from * around:sc in 1st dc to join(15 3-dc groups). Rnd 5:Ch 3,2 dc over sc;*ch 1,3 dc in next sp,Inc in next sp**,ch 1,3 dc in next sp;rep from * around,end at **,sc in top of 1st dc to join(20 3-dc groups). Rnd 6-9:Rep Rnd 4(20 3-dc groups)At end of Rnd 9,join Varigated color with the sc joining.Do not cut Solid yarn,carry it up inside of hat. Rnd 10-11:Rep Rnd 4 using Varigated yarn.Pull up Solid yarn with joining sc,fasten off Varigated yarn. Rnd 12:Ch 3,2 dc over sc;3 dc in each sp around;join with sl st to 1st dc(60 dc). Rnd 13-14:Ch 1 sc in same st as joining.Sc in each st around.At end of Rnd 14,fasten off,weave in ends(60 sc). Rose Pin(not the one in the pic): Rnd 1:Leaving a 12" tail,ch 4,11 dc in 4th ch from hook.Join with sl st to 1st dc.Pull tail tight(12 dc). Rnd 2:Ch 1,sc in same st and in each st around,join(12 sc). Rnd 3:Ch 3,sk 2 sts,sc in next st,(ch 2,sk 2 sts,sc in next st)3 times(4 loops). Rnd 4:In each loop,work(sl st,ch 2,4 dc,ch 2,sl st). Rnd 5:Ch 2,sl st in back of center st of next petal,(ch 5,sl st in back center st of next petal)3 times.Ch 5(4 loops) Rnd 6:In each loop,work(sl st,ch 2,7 dc,ch 2,sl st).Join with sl st to 1st sl st.Fasten off,weave in end. Use 12" tail to sew on safety pin. Note:For an "airier" hat,replace every 3-dc group with a V-stitch(dc,ch 1,dc).Begin each round with a ch 4(cts as dc,ch 1). |
