| Make up a bunch of these Baby Snakes to go with the Mama Camo Snake. |
| You'll Need: Worsted-weight yarn in a "snaky" color,"G" hook,Sport-weight yarn in red,steel "0" hook,12" chenille stem(pipe cleaner) To Make: Tongue- With steel "0" hook and red sport yarn,ch 8,leaving a long tail for sewing and making eyes. R 1:Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next ch.Ch 3,sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.Fasten off. Snake- In one end of stem,make a small loop(snake head),and turn up about 1/4" on other end(tail).Wrap the ends with tape to keep the wires from poking through. Note:Work in continuous rounds.Place a marker in 1st st of each round. With worsted yarn and "G" hook,ch 2. R 1:6 sc in 2nd ch from hook(6 sc). R 2:2 sc in each sc around(12 sc). R 3:Sc in each sc around(12 sc).Pull tounge ends through 1st-round opening.Sew securely.Make 2 stitch eyes. R 4:Sc in 1st sc,dec(pull up a loop in next 2 sc,yo,draw through both loops on hook)around(8 sc). R 5:Sc in each sc(8 sc). R 6:Sc in next sc,*dec,sc in next sc.Rep from * around(6 sc). R 7:Sc in each sc around(6 sc). Repeat R 7 until snake is the length of stem plus 1 more round(approximately 39 rounds). Insert stem.Dec around to close.Weave in end. Note:Look through nature books and magazines to find colors for snakes.These snakes would also be cute in wild rainbow colors. |
